Tuncurry Pharmacy Tigerettes vs Green Point Rovers

A revamped Tigerettes outfit took on the highly rated Rovers at Tuncurry on Friday night in very slick conditions following an afternoon downpour. With quite a few new faces the Tigerettes took a while to settle, and were under pressure immediately from a very attack minded Green Point. Brooke Schumann in her new role as sweeper was busy all night, but her ability to read the game meant that the majority of the Rovers attacks were snuffed out. Donna Beaver, also in a new role, managed to tie up the Rover's dangerous strikers for much of the game. After conceding three quick goals the Tigerettes began to play themselves back into the game, with good wide running from Gen Moran and Anna Sparkes leading to a couple of chances lete into the first half. The second half saw the Tigerettes almost permanently on the defensive, with all the girls giving 100% right until the final whistle. Despite the final scoreline, the talk in the sheds afterwards was all positive, and new coach Dave Hardy can look forward to improved performances as the season goes on. Tuncurry Pharmacy Players Player was Brooke Schumann.
